The Plot Thickens introduced an exciting young band from Houston, TX to an unsuspecting public. The Jonbenét made people talk, and the band’s noisy brand of post-hardcore was both catchy and chaotic.

Actually a collection of the band’s recordings over the previous year, The Plot Thickens includes material from a self-released EP called Five Stories Retold and a split with fellow Houston band the Kidnap Soundtrack.

Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness. The instrumentation alone is so viscerally emotive and still outstanding on a technical level… Add to that the masterfully raw vocals and profoundly beautiful lyrical imagery, and you’re left with one of the most soul-stirring pieces of music in all of rock’s history.
